About the artist

Lorraine Jordan's music is rightly described as Celtic Soul. She takes the influences of her Irish roots (Lorraine was born in Wales to Irish parents) and love of traditional ballads and combines them with contemporary musical influences to create an intoxicating and thought provoking set of original songs, driven by powerful silk wrapped vocals.

Lorraine has released 4 CDs to much critical acclaim, the latest one, "A Light Over There", was released in the UK in 2007.

Lorraine performs both solo and with her line-up. She is a highly accomplished solo performer, accompanying herself on guitar and bouzouki.

Musicians who have played in Lorraine’s band and on her previous releases have included Niall O’Callanain (Deisal), Jimmy Faulkner, John Whelan, Tony McManus, Steafan Hannigan, Neil Davey (Anam), Pete Garnet (Moishe’s Bagel) among a host of other very fine instrumentalists. She has recorded 3 previous albums all to much critical acclaim and is considered by many to be one of the finest and most talented singer songwriters in Britain today.

Lorraine has shared stages with many well known names including Richard Thompson, Loudon Wainwright, the Waterboys and Dick Gaughan. She has toured extensively in Germany, Italy, Austria, Holland, Switzerland, Scandinavia, Ireland and Scotland, and has a growing audience in Australia and the USA following her recent tours there.

Cultural Collaboration
The last few years have seen Lorraine touring Australia and Europe with Planet Woman – a cultural collaboration which toured from 2003 - 2006. Planet Woman brought together five female musicians from both sides of the globe, sharing Celtic and Maori traditions. They recorded an EP in 2004 entitled “From Celtic Roots to Oceanic Soul”, and released the album "Reeling In The Pacific" in 2005.

Lyrics

If You Want Me To – written by Lorraine Jordan © mcps

Cruel is the night that takes you far from me
That takes me from your side
And harsh the light
That reveals by morning your face was just in my mind

I would run to your door
Bring flowers and all of the love I have for you would carry in song
And the birds of the dawn who know only joy
Would add their sweetened song

If you want me to, if you want me to, if you want me to

Hard is the heart that could deny such love
When such love comes by
And fool the one
Who would live in shadows and know not the light of the sun

I would run to your door
Bring flowers and all of the love I have for you would carry in song
And the birds of the dawn who know only joy
Would add their sweetened song

If you want me to, if you want me to, if you want me to

I can not deny that I am not afraid
I’m not running blind
I know what it takes
And I am not inclined
To turn and walk away
But I need just a sign
That you feel the same way

Give me just a sign
A word or a line
That I might justify
The way that my heart flies
To you
In the night
The way that my heart cries
For you
To be by my side

I would run to your door
Bring flowers and all of the love I have for you would carry in song
And the birds of the dawn who know only joy
Would add their sweetened song

If you want me to, if you want me to, if you want me to
Would you let me through, would you let me through
Let me through
