It’s in the lush chords and careful arrangement that this Silk Sonic inspired groover truly shines. In the discrete but diabolically efficient guitar and percussion fills. A sweet song about something not so sweet: one way love. Rigorously tested live before being distilled in the studio, this song existed on stage long before reaching a pair of headphones.

About the artist

BIO

The band Who Parked The Car arose from the IMEP music school in Paris, a partner of the Berklee College of Music.

The 8 young musicians coming from France and Latin America (Argentina, Honduras), are trained jazz musicians, but above all groove lovers.

They took their first steps in 2020 during a series of fiery jam sessions in the artistic squat Jardin Denfert in Paris, and since then, have kept performing regularly throughout different Parisian venues.

The live experience, as important as it is for any rhythm-based group, is integral in WPTC’s identity. So much is the case that in their debut album, their song carrying the band’s name as a title, was written to be played live in a game of question and answer with the audience.

WPTC is more than just a jam band that has worked through their arrangements. They skilfully mix genres, from jazz to funk, including soul and electro. Their unique sound is a clever mix of vocals, brass, synths, guitars and percussions.

Lyrics

Can’t Get Over You (Who Parked The Car)

And I don’t know what to do, maybe I’ll find
In this world there’s people like you and I
Got nowhere else to go to, maybe I’ll try
Bringing back the pieces

And I know, I think about you all the time babe
And I know, you drive me crazy
And I know, I wanna be close to you
Oh baby baby baby don’t leave me now
Oh baby I just need you somehow

Oooh trust me baby
It’s been a long long time
Longer longer long long time
Oooh trust me baby
It’s been a long long time
Longer longer long
But I can’t get over you

Now that you’re gone I’m diving, maybe I’ll see
Our light shining backwards into the sea
And I’m in too deep, I can’t get up on my feetSixteen hours later

And I know, that I like blue and you like green
And I know, it’s not as easy as it seems
And I know, you just need your time to be
Oh baby baby baby don’t leave me now
Oh baby I just need you somehow

Oooh trust me baby
It’s been a long long time
Longer longer long long time
Oooh trust me baby
It’s been a long long time
Longer longer long time

One year later I’m still waiting
Tell me our love isn’t fading
Baby hold me by your side, please
Just don’t leave me tonight
But I can’t get over you
Can’t you see there’s not to loose
Baby please just hold me tight, we can make it if we try
If we fight

Oooh trust me baby
It’s been a long long time
Longer longer long long time
Oooh trust me baby
It’s been a long long time
Longer longer long long time
