Toronto-based independent pop artist and singer-songwriter Yan Simon defines his genre as Pop Music for the Theatre Kids. Inspired by visionary queer icons such as Lady Gaga and Elton John, Yan Simon creates a unique theatrical-pop sound that can be described as powerful and indulgent. Yan’s theatre background is glaringly apparent in his music; his delivery, lyrics, and toplines are emotional, soulful, and infectious.
Since 2021 Yan Simon has been performing his original music all over Toronto, earning comparisons to Freddie Mercury, George Michael, and Elton John for his stage presence, and gaining the reputation of a powerful live vocalist.
Lyrics
Silent and slow Creeping up on me Never let go That's what we promised I know I feel it now It's not in the shadows The rhythm of our hearts Is fighting a battle
I'll put my ego on pause And I'll place your heart above And I can do this because You're the one for me my love
Play your cards right That's what they tell me This game is turning a fight And I don't wanna keep playing And when I push away My mind is against me Believe me when I say When I say I'm sorry
I'll put my ego on pause And I'll place your heart above And I can do this because You're the one for me my love
I'd rather be in the wrong for a moment Than be the winner alone And I may be misunderstood for a moment I'd strip my soul to the bone
I'll put my ego on pause And I'll place your heart above And I can do this because You're the one for me my love
I'd rather be in the wrong for a moment I know it won't be in vain And I may be misunderstood for a moment I'll take that over your pain
